My childhood dream finally came true! Disney World is spectacular!
We spent a week at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter, very nice. It gave us great access to all the parks and Universal Studios was a reasonable cab ride away.
Now I don’t think I’ve mentioned this yet but nearly everywhere we go it rains. Not only did it rain in Florida, we had Hurricane Hermine heading our way. Luckily it didn’t hit too close and we just had rain… lots of rain. It’s quite something to be in a theme park with thousands of other people and within seconds of the rain starting everyone is suddenly wearing a poncho.
We didn’t have time for the water parks on this trip but spent plenty of time at the Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom & Epcot Centre and some shopping in Disney Springs. I don’t handle rides too well, but went on a few, I think my daughter went on most of them. I was just excited to meet Mickey Mouse! We also met Tinkerbell, Chewbacca and of course Buzz & Woody. I even met some Disney squirrels.
The parades and shows at Disney are spectacular, my favourites were the Fantasmic, Electrical Parade, Nighttime Spectacular, & Festival of the Lion King. Unfortunately after standing in the rain for an hour waiting for the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular, it was cancelled.
We pre-booked the dining package at Disney and were not disappointed, so much yummy food, here’s just a sample.
Universal Studios was lots of fun. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is amazing, I highly recommend it to any Potter fan, and make sure you ride the Hogwarts train. Also met some characters from Dr Seuss, another childhood favourite. Tip: if you’re squeamish on rides, don’t let anyone talk you into the Transformer ride.
